Delicious, fresh fish and chips have been prepared and served from our Waterloo Street shop since 1924. We take pride in serving you the tastiest fish and chips freshly cooked to order. Gluten freebatter is available every day, just ask us and we'll be happy to help. We're also licensed to sell wine!

Owner, Ben Squire, created The Boathouse Cafe, founded on a life-long passion for fishing. At the age of 21, with the help of a £1000 grant from The Princes Trust, Ben purchased a fishing boat andstarted a small business taking the first mackerel and deep sea fishing trips in Plymouth, Devon. Since then the business has flourished.

Since establishing our take away service in 2006 we have built a reputation for our generous portions, freshly cooked tasty food and value for money among Locals and Holiday Makers alike. Our Cod and line caught Haddock are caught in the deep, cold, unpolluted waters of the north- East Atlantic around Iceland and Norway and the Barent Sea, north of Russia. These fisheries are veryefficiently managed with fishermen and scienstists working together to ensure sustainability of the fishery. Unlike EU fisheries, discarding fish overboard is not allowed and all fish must be brought back into port to be sold.

Capels Fish and Chip restaurant and takeaway has been serving local residents, holiday makers and visitors to Exmouth for many decades. Capels has also received and a 5-star Food Hygiene rating fromthe UK Food Standards Agency. All our meals are cooked to order in spotless kitchens and preparation rooms.

There has been a family-run fish and chip shop on this site since 1937. We are serious about the quality of our food, especially our award-winning fish and chips, and everything is cooked to order. Weonly use the best, freshest ingredients. Our fish is filleted, packed and frozen at sea within a few hours of being caught. That way the fish is as fresh as possible and retains its flavour.
