Delicious, fresh fish and chips have been prepared and served from our Waterloo Street shop since 1924. We take pride in serving you the tastiest fish and chips freshly cooked to order. Owner, Ben Squire, created The Boathouse Cafe, founded on a life-long passion for fishing. At the age of 21, with the help of a £1000 grant from The Princes Trust, Ben purchased a fishing boat andstarted a small business taking the first mackerel and deep sea fishing trips in Plymouth, Devon. Since then the business has flourished.

Squires fish and chip restaurant in Braunton prides itself on doing the classic British dish of fish and chips proud. Not only do we use the freshest fish of the best quality, but we aim to let itspeak for itself by covering it in only the lightest of batters (or you can have it unbattered if you'd prefer). Our Cod and line caught Haddock are caught in the deep, cold, unpolluted waters of the north- East Atlantic around Iceland and Norway and the Barent Sea, north of Russia. These fisheries are veryefficiently managed with fishermen and scienstists working together to ensure sustainability of the fishery. Unlike EU fisheries, discarding fish overboard is not allowed and all fish must be brought back into port to be sold.
